Health & Safety
At RESTO Athletic, the well-being of our team members is our highest priority. We are deeply committed to providing a safe, clean, and healthy work environment for every employee. We will comply with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations to ensure our workplace is free from recognized hazards.
Employee Responsibilities
We expect every employee to take an active role in maintaining a secure environment by:
- Following all safety policies and procedures established by the company.
- Promptly reporting any unsafe conditions, potential hazards, or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor or manager.
- Immediately reporting any work-related injury or illness, no matter how minor, so it can be properly documented and addressed.
- Using and caring for all provided personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for your role.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for working under the influence of any substance that could impair your ability to safely perform your job duties.
Evacuation Procedures
In the event of a fire, gas leak, or other emergency requiring evacuation:
- Alarm: When you hear the fire alarm, or are instructed to evacuate, do so immediately and calmly.
- Assembly Point: Proceed to the designated outdoor assembly point. The primary assembly point for KC office and factory is on Tracy, just south of 31st Street at the entrance to the Police Station Parking Lot.
- Headcount: Once at the assembly point, HR or the Building Entry and Exit Contact will take a headcount.
- Re-entry: Do not re-enter the building until an authorized person (e.g., fire department official or member of leadership) gives the all-clear.
Shelter-in-Place Procedures
In the event of an external threat, severe weather, or a hazardous materials spill where evacuation is not safe:
- Instruction: A "shelter-in-place" order will be announced.
- Secure the Area: Lock doors and windows and turn off all non-essential equipment and ventilation systems.
- Stay Informed: Remain indoors in a designated safe area, away from windows and doors. Await further instructions from emergency services or management.
Medical Emergency
For any medical emergency, including injuries or sudden illness:
- First Aid: If you are trained in first aid, administer aid as appropriate.
- Call for Help: Immediately call 911 and then notify a member of leadership.
- Location: Provide the emergency operator with your exact location and a clear description of the situation.
Active Threat Procedures
In the extremely rare event of an active threat, the protocol is Run, Hide, Fight.
- Run: The Kansas City Police Department is located at the opposing corner to RESTO and is a safe place to relocate. If you can safely escape, run away from the threat. Leave your belongings behind and do not stop until you are in a safe location.
- Hide: If you cannot run, hide in an area that is out of sight and provides protection. Lock doors, barricade them if possible, and silence your phone.
- Fight: As a last resort, if you cannot run or hide, be prepared to fight for your life. Use any available items as a weapon and commit to your actions.
